The story of how Helios Engineering & Mechanical Group (HEMG) redefined industrial execution through disciplined digital control.
HEMG — Helios Engineering & Mechanical Group — was built from the ground up by practitioners who spent their careers on the hardest industrial projects in the world: offshore platforms, nuclear facilities, pharmaceutical plants, petrochemical complexes, and refinery turnarounds across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
The founding team carried one shared, recurring frustration across every project they had worked on. The greatest risks were never caused by poor engineering design. They were caused by the gap between what the engineering specification demanded and what actually happened in the field during execution.
A torque value not properly verified.
A weld record hand-written in a logbook that could not be found during a regulatory audit.
A test pack signed off on paper with no photographic evidence.
A commissioning team spending weeks manually compiling a handover dossier while the client's project clock ran.
The first HEMG implementation was a digital flange management system deployed on a major refinery turnaround in India. The outcome was immediate and measurable: 100% of critical joints verified to engineering specification, zero startup leaks, and a handover package that was auditor-ready within hours rather than weeks.
From that single proof of concept, HEMG has grown into a comprehensive mechanical integrity platform deployed across Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Power Generation, Offshore FPSO, Water & Desalination, Semiconductor, and Construction environments globally.
Today, HEMG operates from three hubs — India, United Kingdom, and UAE — serving plant owners, EPCs, and contractors across the complete mechanical asset lifecycle.
Founding Partner & Digital Transformation Architect
Vivek Dhandapani is a results-driven Digital Transformation Leader with 20 years of experience in enterprise technology, AI strategy, and product innovation across Oil & Gas, Construction, Pharmaceutical, and Industrial sectors. He is the architect of HEMG's digital platform — translating deep field knowledge of mechanical integrity into a product that is as rigorous in its engineering logic as it is practical for the industrial workforce that uses it.
His career spans the complete product lifecycle: from 0-to-1 platform development and architecture through enterprise deployment, stakeholder management, and scaled commercial delivery. He has led high-profile digital transformation programmes across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
He has architected and delivered enterprise-grade platforms for oil and gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and government environments, combining strong technical architecture with practical field-execution understanding.
Founding Partner — Field Engineering Standards & Mechanical Integrity
SMR Lingam is a highly specialised QA/QC Manager and Mechanical Engineering authority with 20 years of hands-on field experience spanning piping fabrication, welded joint inspection, bolted joint management, pressure vessel engineering, and statutory compliance across major industrial projects in India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
SMR Lingam is the engineering backbone of HEMG. Every workflow, every validation rule, and every checklist within the platform reflects his uncompromising understanding of what actually happens during execution on a real industrial site — and what goes wrong when procedures are not enforced.
Chief Technology Owner — Platform Delivery & Digitalization
Santhosh leads the complete end-to-end digitalization process at HEMG — overseeing the development, deployment, and continuous evolution of all four platform products. He owns the full technology stack from architecture through to live deployment, ensuring HEMG's systems are secure, scalable, and engineered for the regulated industrial environments in which they operate.
From product roadmap definition to live platform delivery, Santhosh drives the technology transformation at the heart of HEMG's mission — translating mechanical integrity expertise into reliable, field-ready digital tools that industrial teams can trust and adopt.
HEMG was designed from its first line of code with one non-negotiable principle: the platform must work for the professionals who do the work.
Industrial execution depends on the skill, precision, and expertise of field professionals — the pipe fitters assembling flanges in a refinery, the welding inspectors validating joints on an offshore platform, the commissioning engineers closing out punch lists under intense schedule pressure.
These are highly trained individuals whose expertise is the foundation of every safe and efficient industrial operation. HEMG honours that expertise by providing tools that match their professionalism.
Simple scan-and-update workflows with large touch targets designed for gloved hands.
Full offline capability for remote sites and limited-connectivity industrial environments.
Can this be used correctly, the first time, in PPE, under time pressure? Every screen is validated against this single criterion.
